| The Cobb Island Volunteer Fire Department & EMS was proud to be part of the First Annual Cobb Island BBQ Cookoff, hosted by CICA at Fisherman’s Field on September 12, 2026.
Our Fire Prevention Tent was set up throughout the event, giving us the opportunity to connect with community members, families, and children while sharing important fire and life-safety information. We had fire prevention materials available, including information on cooking safety, fire extinguishers, emergency preparedness, and ways to get involved with our department.
Our members had the opportunity to talk with residents about fire prevention, EMS, volunteering, and the importance of having a plan before an emergency happens. It was especially rewarding to see children stopping by, learning about the fire service, and getting excited about fire safety.
For the duration of the event, our ambulance and fire truck were on standby, allowing our members to enjoy the community event while remaining prepared to respond should an emergency occur.
We were also happy to bring Sparky and our fire prevention resources along for the day, making fire safety fun and approachable for our youngest community members.
Events like this are more than just an opportunity to gather with our community. They allow us to build relationships, educate our neighbors, promote prevention, and remind everyone that your local volunteer fire department is here when you need us.
A huge thank-you to CICA, the BBQ cooks, event organizers, volunteers, and everyone who came out to make the First Annual Cobb Island BBQ Cookoff a success.
From all of us at the Cobb Island Volunteer Fire Department & EMS, thank you for allowing us to be part of such a great community event!
