I want to congratulate your entire department and community on the new fire station. My father, Fred Thorne, helped to get the fire department going in the early years, and he would be very proud of where it is today. I have fond memories of growing up on the island, and still consider it home. The only suggestion that I have for your website would be to insert captions on some of the early photos (if possible) as I know how memories fade over the years. I enjoyed seeing them very much. The patch I received several years ago when I visited the island is very cherished.

The new station has got to be one of the most beautiful stations i have ever seen. Im coming down that way in two weeks and I will stop by for a tour.

I love this fire department.. I lived across the street from 1985 to 1996.. Thank you for all your hard work

It was indeed a pleasure to provide your family and others who showed up safe haven or better yet piece of mind during the Tornado watch. We all have to take these warnings seriously these days as they are appearing everywhere in places you would never expect them and without advanced warning. It's a shame that even today we are having to prove our very existence without our neighborhood and first due response area. We take our duty and our commitment to our citizens seriously and will always be on Cobb Island to serve all citizens of the Cobb Neck Region.

Thank you so much for keeping my family safe during the 6/4/08 tornado warning. We heard the alarms sounding and knew immediately that we were going to be in for some bad weather. I grabbed my family and ran to your station as fast as we could, to be welcomed by all of you volunteers. Michele (Will's finance') made sure that each kid had something to do and even brought in a deck of cards to keep them occupied. Thanks again for a job well done.

My name is Martha Simpson. My family lived on Cobb Island for about 25 years. My father recently sold our house on Russell Drive. My daughter Jasmine and I frequently visit the Kilmons as the Kilmons and Simpsons have been good friends to eachother for a long time.

One such visit became a bit frightening all at once. The chimney was on fire! Norris alerted all of us and we vacated the house as quick as possible. Cindy called 911 and before we knew what was happenning the CIVFD were on top of the roof putting out the fire and the whole block was covered with fire and rescue vehicles!

In the midst of all this controlled chaos I had a rush of emotions. Scared but thankful at the same time. I coudn't help but smile at the firefighters as the worked the fire and the rescue personel as they comforted us. As bad as it may have looked all the fire and rescue personal made us feel like it was going to be alright as they showed no other emotions but confidence and caring. You even kept us warm in the ambulance until it was all clear.

Thanks for a job well done. Thanks for you care, concern and confidence. As Cindy said you made situation that could have been much worse a whole lot better real fast.
